Locating Objects on a Grid

Learning Objective:Students will describe and represent the relative locations of objects and represent objects on a map.

First the students learned to identify locations on a grid.

Next, we played
a game where a frog must move around a grid, avoiding obstacles and arriving at the secret location. Everybody, except for the frog child, is shown the destination.

The children used cardinal directions (North two spaces, West three
etc.) to guide the frog around obstacles toward the secret location.
